I like to use names that in some manner relate to their sire or dam. It's just easier and yes, I admit, as you get older, it helps in remembering. Some of these themes are easier to carry on than others. Such as Red Hot Chili Pepper produced a line of all "Hot" bunnies. There was Hot Pepper, Hot Rod, Hot Mama, Hot Button, you get the drift. Charles produced a line of "Ch" named bunnies like Charo, Chester, Charlotta, Chico......
I had a litter of three broken tort sisters once. There was Helena Handbasket, Helena Highwater and Helen Back.
I remember the 1989 Portland, Oregon convention when Barry Hustins won Best of Breed with a solid senior buck known only by his ear number. I don't know if he ever named that rabbit.
At another west coast convention, the Best of Breed owner/breeder was an unknown, a local person. She must have named her winner about her experience. Here was a person who had attended just local show and was known perhaps only by the folks in her zone. Suddenly her and her rabbits are thrown into the National short lived spotlight. Everyone is asking to buy from her and what else does she have to sell. She is driving back and forth to her home and bringing 8 week old babies for folks to look at and they are buying. No doubt for higher prices than she'd imagined her 8 week old bunnies could or ever would sell for again. Who could blame her? Cash in while you can, especially since she didn't go to the nationals and conventions, this was her chance. She must have been terribly happy with the win and then the attention her rabbits got must have been a bit overwhelming. She made some of the "big names" in the HL world take notice, good for her! What did she name that special bunny? "Starmaker". So fitting!
So this little buck, as is his sister too, yet unnamed. But I'll get out my list of names and see if anything "fits".
Update - His name has been chosen with a nod towards his dad Thistle. This little guy is "BBF's Thorn".
