I came across these at Mardens and immediately was reminded of rabbit hay feeders. Larger ones for cages and smaller ones can be installed in larger carriers. Pop off the suction cups and attach with hog rings or zip ties. Cheap and easy for Bunnies on a Budget. No matter where I go or what I see it is hard to not think of how you can associate or use things with the bunnies.

Eastern Maine RBA will be donating this Rabbit Kitchen themed basket to be raffled at the Maine State Show on Sat. May 20th at the New England Livestock Expo at Windsor Fairgrounds. Proceeds to benefit Maine State Rabbit Breeders Association. I had a lot of fun putting it together.

Okay, now if that doesn't show Hollywood totally miscasting a poor little Dwarf Hotot bunny. Saw on TV tonight a commercial for a stool softener of all things and the brand's mascot? A Dwarf Hotot wearing a cape.

Please Treat Me Kindly
By Barbara Chambers I was a cute little bunny, the day I was sold. To a small little boy whose hands were so bold. He loved me and squeezed me and held me so tight God only knows of my terror and fright. I struggled and squirmed for him to release me He just held me tighter, till my tummy was queasy. How could I tell him, my life was ebbing away He was determined in his arms I would stay. In one final struggle I tried to leap free I clawed at the arms that were torturing me. But my dilemma wasn’t over, I was captured and caged. Taken to a strange place, I lay stunned and enraged. Why couldn’t people see that I’m not just a toy, To be given so freely to the hands of a boy. We reached our destination, my home I did see, I was put in a cage made especially for me. I looked at the child and his eyes seemed to say, I’m sorry little bunny, I didn’t mean to treat you that way. He gave me a carrot and tickled my ears, If you treat me this way, I could love you for years. Treat me with kindness, don’t hold me so tight, Give me plenty of water and feed me just right. Don’t give me any lettuce, of this I’ve been told, Keep me from drafts in the winter, so I won’t catch a cold. Please always be gentle, I’m just a baby you see, I knew he understood as he smiled warmly at me. We have two walled off shavings bins that get filled up in the fall to provide for basically a whole year. When the bin in the rabbitry gets used up, it is time to shuttle more shavings from the big red barn. The easiest way is to use a dolly and big trash can. Securing the trash can to the dolly took a bit of Yankee ingenuity. Sliding a crow bar over the top dolly bar, through the trash can's handle then back thru a lower bar on the dolly works great. Quicker than a tie or bungee strap.
Chamberlain won Best of Breed and Reserve in Show for the second time this year! It happened at the New Gloucester CCRBA Winter Show held 2/18/17. He enjoys going to the shows and doing his thing on the judging table. It is a pleasure to have such a showman who doesn't mind the travel, hanging out in a carrier and then strutting his stuff for the judges.
