This convention was very well run and the facility was great. In attendance were 22,000 rabbits, that is correct, 22,000 rabbits shown by thousands of exhibitors. As always the Holland Lops were well represented with almost 1,000 entries divided amongst the eight classes they are shown in.
It was wonderful to see friends from across the country and talk about our rabbit hobby with those who truly understand and share our enthusiasm for the furry little creatures our Holland Lops are.
Might as well start with the exciting news of "Moonie's" wonderful placement.
In the HUGE Solid Senior Buck class of 157, BBF's Over the Moon placed 3RD!!!! His new mom, Deb L. nervously watched along with me as he ticked down from the final 30 to
his 3rd place win. Each time the bucks got shuffled around, we tensed, trying to guess which end of the table was for the "keepers" and which would go off next. It was very exciting as the judge went over the Final Five several times before making the final placement of each one. It was heart pounding fun!
Moonie went up early in the class so was on the show tables for quite some time while the other 156 bucks were evaluated and placed. It was evident when he got returned to his cage and proceeded to nap the rest of the day.
His 6th place junior buck win at the Ohio National proved that he kept and improved his quality. You really have to be patient with these guys and let them develop on their own. The good ones just keep getting better.
I felt like I was "Over the Moon" when he placed so well and I'm sure his new mom was too! He is aptly named! (photos on the Buck page)
