Here is a littermate to Downtown Dotty who is in the blog below. His name is "BBF's Snidely Whiplash". His unusual nose marking reminded me of the cartoon villain who would stroke his long mustache up to one side. He was too busy to get a good photo on the grooming table, so took one of him in his cage.
He did well at the January show also, winning the broken junior buck class in 2 shows and coming in 2nd in the third show. Some more results from the January show. Broken Junior Doe "BBF's Downtown Dotty" did really well winning her class ALL 3 shows. She also won Best Opposite Broken in one show and Best Opposite of Breed in another. Both her parents are first timers and the same breeding has been repeated, so hopefully more like her.
I checked the version of my Evan's Pedigree program software and realized I was a couple of versions behind. So contacted Dave Evans and as always got a quick response. I was able to upgrade after doing a little "housekeeping" on the rabbit's weights.
So thought I'd pass this hint along to others. I wasn't consistent in entering the rabbit's weights. My own rabbits' weights were entered correctly but others I had bought weren't. Some rabbits weighing 3 lbs. 8 oz. were entered as 3.8 when they should have been 3.08. If they aren't entered correctly, they won't convert to the newest version correctly. It might be a good wintertime project if you use this software to check the way you have weights entered before upgrading. I was just 2 versions behind but upon uploading the newest version and seeing the Home/Active screen so colorful and filled with info, Oh Wow! Dave's been busy adding new bells and whistles. I can't say enough about this great software and the super great customer service. It is reasonably priced and the tech support you get is the best and it's free with your purchase. Not only does Evans do rabbits, but they do many other animal species, deer, cavies, goats, sheep, hedgehogs, chinchilla, poultry etc. Evans is much more than a pedigree program, it keeps other records, photos, financials, show, litter, kin, medical and more. Go to Dave's website and take a guided tour at http://evsoft.us/ I don't work on commission but tell Dave, I sent ya! Here is a cutie-pie head on this junior doe. She could use better ears and not sweep them, but still a cute one.
Here is a BBF's Chamberlain son (dad is in photo in previous blog post) that is coming along. He was a little crazy acting on the January show table as it was his first time out of the rabbitry. The best he managed was a 3rd which was surprising as it was the third show of the day. Perhaps he was finally starting to get the knack of showing.
I really like his wrap around crown that is so clearly defined by his fur. A great crown on a rabbit, a bad hairpiece on a person. haha Also that his ear openings start right by his eye and the ears are nice and open. He has decent bone and nice slick shiny fur coat like his dad. And thankfully no scattered white hairs. He should have a great big head like his dad and actually his head is bigger at this age than his dad's was. Time will tell. Now to come up with a name for him. |
AuthorHoping to share the rabbitry happenings & thoughts. Also HINTS that I hope will help you and your rabbits.
