BBF's Phineus - Born March 2016 - Mom: BBF's Riz Dad: BBF's Raisin Cain - Photo taken at 3 1/2 mos.
Like this guy's thick bone, short body, color & markings. His ears look a bit out of proportion but he grew into them, wide and open.
BBF's Figgy Pudding -
Nice compact Tort buck
Photo taken at 10 weeks. Living in North Carolina and has produced some nice stock for them.

BBF's Snidely Whiplash born 9/7/16. Mom is BBF's Topsy and Dad is BBF's Dapple Dan. (brother to Dotty)
BBF's Snidely Whiplash named for his unusual nose marking which reminded me of the cartoon villain who would stroke his long mustache upwards while he spoke of his next dastardly deed.
He did well at the 1/15/17 show also winning 2 of his 3 classes.
NEWSFLASH - Snidely won Best of Breed and went on to win Best in Show in Moncton, New Brunswick Canada at the July 15th show! He was entered by his new owner Lou, what a great start right out of the gate! UPDATE - He's won several legs for Lou these past couple of years. Almost always winning the Broken Senior Buck class.

BBF's Over the Moon
BBF's Over the Moon is pictured here at 13 weeks old. He's a great little buck placing 6th SJB out of 108 at the OH Holland Lop National. His biggest strength is a very well placed crown with lots of depth and good width. I love his very open, short ears.
Below are his "all grown up" pictures. What a mug! He keeps his great fur condition most of the year. He is an auto-poser with a great head & nice crown, great fur. He is not too large a buck either, just 3 1/2 lbs. He is just a great little pal. He is always upbeat and eager for attention. Moonie has champed out and then some winning more legs in Iowa after winning two grand champion legs here.
Super Duper FLASH - In the HUGE Solid Senior Buck class of 157 with 71 exhibitors at the American Rabbit Breeders Convention Show at Harrisburg, PA..... Over the Moon placed 3RD!!!!
His new mom, Deb L. nervously watched along with me as he ticked down from the final 30 to his 3rd place win. Each time the bucks got shuffled around, we tensed, trying to guess which end of the table was for the "keepers" and which would go off next. Very exciting as the judge went over the Final Five several times before the final placement of each one. It was heart pounding fun!
He was up on the show table for quite some time while all the other bucks got judged and placed. It was evident when he got returned to his cage and proceeded to nap the rest of the day away, quite proud of his big accomplishment.
His 6th place junior buck win at the Ohio National proved that he kept and improved his quality. You really have to be patient with these guys and let them develop on their own. The good ones just keep getting better.

BBF's Thistle - M5 - Tort Buck born 5/3/2013. Mom is BBF's Daphne and Dad is Cowan's Medicine Man. Littermate to Briar and Sunflower.
Nice little compact buck with thick bone. Very open bell ears hang from good depth of crown. He has nice short fur.
Photo at left taken as a junior. Senior photo below. He has matured very nicely and won a senior buck class and BOSG leg.
Thistle did well at the 2013 Harrisburg, PA ARBA Convention in the large solid junior buck class of 138 with 70 exhibitors. He placed 11th (Sigh....just out of the awards and points).
Thistle was gifted to Barry who tried to recapture some Ft. Cowan magic with him and his does.

BBF's All That Jazz
BBF's All That Jazz - 3 mos. old
BBF's All That Jazz - "Jazzy" is a little tort buck out of a litter with four tort sisters. He was born 10/14/2011. His mom is BBF's Applesauce and dad is Cowan's Oscar. His half brother is Rocka-fella as both had Applesauce as a mom. Does that produce bucks like them out of different sires are worth their weight in gold.
The 3 mos. photo on left shows that even at this young age he had a very pronounced brow, well defined crown and good ears, and nice bone.
Much more grown up in these 18 mos. old photos below. There is no mistaking that crown! You can't get ears to lay any flatter than that. Jazzy lives down south now with Valerie in the Carolinas.

BBF's Cadillac Jack - Sablepoint Buck born 7/16/15 - Mom is BBF's Wyndy and Dad is BBF's Over the Top.
Jack has a classic clean sablepoint color, light vanilla, almost white with dark sepia points. There are sablepoints that display smut coloring either all over or as a saddle cast over their back (I have a doe like that). This clean, bright color is preferred. Incorrect sablepoints will have a gray cast/smut with blue-gray eyes.
What makes it discouraging is to get a broken sablepoint this clean because the blanket is very light and hard to see. Though I was able to see it when it was a kit and a bit more concentrated.
His promising head will develop as he matures, has a nice smooth body and short bone. (the hindfoot turned out was his trade-off for sitting still a moment)
His sister is Topsy on the Senior Doe page.

BBF's Rocka-Fella - This son of Cowan's Tucker and BBF's Applesauce is looking like a Rock Star (hence his name) with the attitude too. Finally some senior photos. I love, love his great width and depth of crown. He started with a well defined crown at 13 weeks as shown in the junior photo below and it just got better as he matured. Nice shape to his well furred ears. His tree stump legs show good bone. Nice curvature to the skull. His shortness of body balances out his features well. Hindquarters go right to the table.
Rocka-Fella now resides with Deb L. in Iowa after meeting her at the PA ARBA Convention. He placed approximately 30th out of 157 as best I could determine in that HUGE solid senior buck class.

BBF's Applejack
BBF's Applejack is just a little shy.
BBF's Applejack - Sablepoint Buck born 9/30/12 out of BBF's Applesauce and BBF's All That Jazz. I bred All That Jazz (on Buck page) back to his mom, Applesauce. Tort to Tort, so what did I get? One of my favorite HL colors, Sablepoint! So at least now I know that Jazzy carries for sablepoint too. Most of my sablepoints are very clean in color, not the darker smutty type over the saddle. Though the points are a nice dark sepia. When it comes to getting broken sablepoints this can work against me as the blanket color pattern and markings aren't as evident and judges will mark down for lack of contrasting color.
Both Applejack and his smaller sablepoint brother, BBF's Hot Rod, live in NH now. Hot Rod is with Marie and Applejack now lives with Amber who is specifically working on sablepoints and also owns Rozwell.
Applejack has a bit longer ear that hopefully he will mature into as his body does. He has a nice width of crown that breaks right at the point of the eye. His ears hang flat against his head with no ear control. Good body overall with good bone. Well filled muzzle and good fur.
Because of his birthdate, there was only one show I could take him to as a junior where he placed 2nd and 3rd. I don't think he will necessarily place high in the senior buck classes until later because he still has that "young softness" to his face, not the burly older face that the 3-5 year old senior bucks radiate.

Tessie/Cider Jr doe
Tessie/Cider - 8 week old doe.
BBF's 36V - This little broken tort doe born 3/21/13 is a daughter of BBF's Tessie and BBF's Cider. Shown here at 8 weeks old. She looks like she will have a nice head for a doe. She needs to catch up with her ears, being very young, it should happen. Judging from her thick, short bone, her ear length should balance out.
Her tort brother is 23V. This was Tessie's first litter.
She now lives in Windsor.

BBF's Hot Commodity
BBF's Hot Commodity - 10 mos. old
BBF's Hot Commodity - Born 4/6/11. His sire is on the Memorial page - LOV's Red Hot Chili Pepper. This guy has the same good depth of crown as his brother Hot Button on the Bucks page. As with most Hollands, a bit longer ears = (equals) a bit longer body = longer feet. His bone is still very good. He does weigh over the 4 lb. limit. I don't believe in starving them down to show weight if their body frame and bone dictate otherwise. However, he has previously won 2 grand champion legs, one being a Best Opp Sex, the other BOSG.
He has the shorter fur preferred on brokens. Some brokens have the longer, harsher fur. Even though his hindfeet are forward in this photo, he still has what I call a "tabletop" topline straight back and curving over the hindquarters, no ski-sloping. He has a great big head. He does pose up.
Hot Commodity is now living up north in a 4-H home.

BBF's Aidan
BBF's Aidan (at about 5 mos. old) is a super little BEW Netherland Dwarf sport guy with very petite ears, nice head and super short body. He went with the rest of the BBF's Sport/BEW herd in Nova Scotia several years back.
BBF's Rozwell
BBF's Rozwell taken at 4 1/2 mos.
BBF's Rozwell - A super clean Sablepoint buck with nice dark sepia points. This jr buck has a deep, strong crown and well shaped ears. He has great width of shoulders and muscled. Also a nice bold eye and good bone. Rozwell is the new color herd sire for Amber in NH. Congrats!
New Senior photos of Rozwell. What a difference another 2 months makes in a Holland buck's maturity! Those big heads and bone just keep a coming. It is hard to see from these new photo angles that his ears have remained open like in his jr photo but they have. He is such a nice sablepoint overall.
I'll definitely be doing that breeding again. There were two nice tort does in this litter as well.

BBF's Bond
BBF's Bond - Bond got his name from his Ear #O7, not quite 007, but close enough to have some fun. He was from the second breeding of Pepper Girl to Oliver after getting BBF's Over the Moon and BBF's Over the Rainbow. He was sold last Nov. at that eight month in-between age to help someone get a nice buck to work with. I knew he'd turn out nice. 2011 had been a "buck" year at BBF and I was on buck overload, so let him go. They kept him for a short 5 mos., got nice babies and sold him. His mom's latest, another two torts of the same breeding are on the senior pages. They are BBF's Over the Edge (Tort Doe) who won the SJD classes in both shows first time out AND a BOS! and BBF's Over the Top (Tort Buck) who has respectable Top 5 placements in SJB's, later taking BOB and a Best in Show!.
BBF's JD
BBF's J.D. at 3 mos. old.
BBF's J. D. - A blue tort buck from Cowan's James Dean and Cowan's Topaz. He was the smallest in the litter and will take a while to fully mature and show against the "big boys". He has a nice compact body, great slick fur, nicely developing head and good shape to his ears. Brian shares J.D.'s senior age photo below. Nice topline, full lower hindquarters, good curvature to the forehead and depth of crown.
BBF's Quaker
BBF's Quaker now resides with the Lamb's in Ohio who purchased him at the Ohio 2011 HL National. Quaker had 7 legs under 7 judges. He placed in the Top 20 at 2 Nationals and 1 Convention years apart, a pretty good feat for a HL. He was 19th BSB at KY '08' ARBA Conv. and 3rd place Fur. Then he was 17th BSB at the PA '09' HL Nat'l and 12th BSB at the OH '11' HL Nat'l. Geez, maybe the way he was moving up, I should have kept showing him! He was almost always in great fur condition. No surprise there as his mom won Best Fur (out of 32) at the Michigan ARBA '07' Conv. WHILE PREGNANT with HIM!!! So technically he did well twice in Fur Class.
BBF's Franklin
BBF's Franklin left the Indy ARBA Convention to go abroad. To Thailand to be exact. His new owner is Wuttichai Thongnopaka of KB Rabbits. He is one of my darker broken sablepoints. Most of my solid sablepoints are very clean in color, so when they are broken sablepoints, their sablepoint color doesn't have a lot of contrast. He has a great apple head, width of crown, short bone and compact body. Franklin is on the smaller side but held his own going up against the "big boys" winning BOB's and BOG's. He was 22nd at the Ohio HLRSC National. He kept his coat almost all year long so got to go to many shows. Traveling never phased him. He'd simply lay down in the carrier and didn't even get up when the carrier was brought from the van to the rabbitry. Photo credit - Wuttichai Thongnopaka
BBF's Y19
BBF's Y19 at 14 weeks old.
BBF's Y19 - This Sablepoint buck was born 10/4/11. He is by BBF's Chico and BBF's Champagne Lady, half brother and sister by Antonioni's Charles (past herd animals page). He is a very clean, smut-free sablepoint which is very important if you are working on that color.
Because he was born early Oct., he was only 14 weeks old when the first show rolled around. I showed
him once at 4 mos. old and most juniors in the class were older than him so he didn't fare better than the middle. He just turned 6 mos. and will take a little while to go up against the big boy senior bucks for now. These photos taken of him at 14 weeks old in January. He isn't posed very well, hindfeet are forward, but gives you the general idea of his body type. He poses up. At 14 weeks old and now, he has a nice head shape, wide and with a brow, good tabletop topline continues back to a well rounded smooth hindquarter. He moved on to Cape Cod with Mandi.
