A good idea is to go over the previous year's meeting minutes. See if there is anything yet to be completed. Have various committees accomplished what they were set up for? Is a new committee called for?
Take the meeting minutes and create a checklist of what is normally discussed each month to streamline agendas for future monthly meetings. This helps with keeping things on track and cuts down on meeting times.
Think about having a mini-seminar at the club meeting so it isn't always just club business. You can have a member give a talk on a particular breed, show how to groom a wooled rabbit, give a tattoo demo, show how to fill out a coop card, have a registrar visit, demonstrate how to build a nestbox etc. There are lots of learning experiences to share. Old Timer's take these things for granted but it is great for the Newbies. Clubs are always looking for new members, make the meeting interesting and informative for them. It is easier to learn in a small group than in the hectic pace of a showroom.
Need to raise a little money? Bring a few items to raffle. Our club did this for a while and raised about $10.00 per meeting, doesn't sound like much but the $120. per year helps pay quite a few sanction fees.
