We unpacked the rabbits at the motel and fed everyone. When staying in a motel room with bunnies it is best to put down one of those vinyl tableclothes to set the carriers on. Easy clean up and no worries about spilled water or anything else. Thankfully no bunny made a racket other than a few foot stomps. I learned long ago that water bottles with their click-click-click and sleep do not mix, so just water dishes now.
I saw a new-to-me sign on the back of the motel room door that read, "No lobster to be brought into the room to eat. The smell stays in the room for days." LOL
Sunday we turned the air conditioner on and left the buns to themselves while we went sightseeing up the N.E. side of the island. We visited a decommissioned lighthouse that had the radio in it that had received distress calls from the Titanic. The view from the top was beautiful. Next was a fishing museum that told the whole fishing industry of PEI and its importance to their economy. After that was a railroad museum with depot, displays and a huge miniature train display. All their places of interest had very reasonable admittance fees of $4-$5 a person.
We had pulled over to look at our map/Garmin and a friendly local pulled up beside us and asked if we needed directions. Must have seen the Maine plate and was being a good neighbor. That doesn't happen, even in Maine. YOU have to at least ask for directions, no one stops their car to ask YOU if you need them.
Oh yes, when we stopped at a little roadside diner for breakfast, yet another never-seen-before sign. This one in the entryway to a very clean restaurant. "No oil or manure on boots allowed". Yup, lots of farms in that area and the woman running the place was having none of it. Good for her! She served up her special of the day, eggs, homefries, homemade toast, bacon for a mere $5.50.
Back at the motel, we got pizza take out, no signs against pizza thankfully. Fed the bunnies and prepared for the long ride home the next day. Monday, we stopped at Brian's first to put fresh shavings in for the ride home. We got to tour his rabbitry. Great set up for the does and jrs with big nicely made cages. Some cute babies running around. He has some very nice Hollands. No window fans are necessary as there are always refreshing island breezes constantly coming in thru the windows. The temps were in the mid 70's range with no humidity. The latter is the key and something we'd left behind in Maine where it was 92 and humid. Got to see the HL bucks that are housed with the poultry he also keeps in another building. I won't say how many chickens and ducks, it'll scare you. Still more to come.....
