We also dump pans around the forsythia and mock orange bushes in the spring. Bunny cleaning recycling at its finest. So now that it is still springtime, don't just dump on the pile, put it to good use and improve your landscaping. Some people pay good money for bags of composting at the greenhouse, yours is FREE!
After a nice Easter Day meal it was time to enjoy sunshine and the warmer temps outdoors. I raked the hosta bed in front of the rabbitry and horse barn. Any fallen leaves that escaped the" big rake" day last fall managed to burrow themselves all around the hosta. Next week we'll dump the rabbit pans over the dormant hosta. When they are ready to come up thru the ground, they'll be fully fertilized for the season. The bunny manure makes a good composting fertilizer as it breaks down throughout the summer. The shavings help keep the grass from invading the hosta and helps retain moisture to keep them from drying out.
