When I go to convention & tell folks from other states that I am from Maine, they say, "Gee you live in Maine, how can you stand all that snow?" The thing is Maine doesn't get half the snow it used to. Many other parts of the country have been getting much more snow the past few years. Look at Colorado and Minnesota. Many times we don't have but a few inches of snow before Christmas, it waits until January and even then we can get a January Thaw that removes a lot of the accumulated snow.
Some of the does are due for babies this week, a few are lugging hay in preparation. I wonder if both the bucks and does can anticipate the coming snowstorm. It seems that some get more antsy and hungry acting shortly before a big storm.
Today two of Roz's babies were weaned and they are pretty cute. The other two littermates were weaned last weekend. As Oprah says, "this I know for sure".... Well, what I know for sure is, not all Hollands are created equal! These latter two are nicer than the first two. I wondered if that extra week with Mom Roz was the difference? Then I remembered that the first two were the larger, a bit longer eared pair. They are young and time will tell. The thing with Hollands though is that the "time will tell" isn't a short period of time, it can be a year and a half wait.
