Many of us use sample size carpet pieces as grooming mats at the shows. It is such a no-brainer to me to bring carpets to every show, whether I am grooming an animal or practicing their posing. It always amazes me when people don't bring a carpet but expect to use someone else's grooming table. Worse still when they don't ask permission and just plunk their animal down and leave "whatever" little gift their rabbit "dispenses" behind. Please don't set your animals on another person's grooming table without permission, it is plain rude. Also don't use your own carrier's wire top without a carpet. A broken toenail or worse can result. Carpets are cheap, buy one! If you value your animal enough to think it show worthy, treat it that way.
These awards are for the 2/14 CCRBA show to be held in New Gloucester, ME. it is pre-entry with a 2/11 entry deadline. These are regular household dish mats embroidered with the award name. I was looking at them in a store and thought..... AWARDS! They are light, not likely to snag a toenail like some carpets and the best part is the ease of cleaning them. That is the one downfall of some grooming carpets, they are hard on washing machines. The dish mats are also absorbent since that is their main purpose when used "properly" to drain wet dishes on.
They may appear to be mousepad size but they are not. It's just the photo angle to get them both in the picture. If you can find a club member who can machine embroider, these make very reasonably priced awards. Ours were done by my good friend in Iowa, Deb Levisay. She may be even making some with an embroidered hopping bunny or can customize for interested exhibitors. If you are one of them, email me for her email address. I'd love to hear of other award ideas. Trophies are nice but something you can use is even better, IMO
