I put the ornaments on while watching Christmas movies, taking time to remember each ornament's origin. So much for having a rabbitry, now I have a real rabbit-tree.
There is an iridescent nickel size glass apple bought at my first ARBA Convention in 1986, Columbus, OH. A heart shaped stained glass ornament with a broken black HL on the front. The back is penned with a message from my Pomona, CA 1991 convention roomie buddy Pat Barberi.
Beautiful Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus bunny couple dressed in red silk outfits with real rabbit fur Santa hat trim and rabbit fur beard, a favorite from Marylouise Cowan. Makes my cloth Mr. and Mrs. Claus bunnies with wool trim look a little less chic. There are some dedham style ceramic ornament bunnies with holly painted on them. My recently retired boss gifted a local potter's mini ski sweater/mitten/hat combo with gray bunnies painted on them. Nice to support the local artists too.
A cross stiched bunny with a candy cane from Gwynn Lapoint. At a Peoria conv. came a pair of very detailed old fashioned girl carolers in glazed clay from Linda Pett's "Pettals" booth. A Scandanavian boy with a bunny on his arm from my mother in 1983, my first bunny raising year.
Three of my herd bucks (Windmill, Brights Eyes and Dragonslayer) immortalized by Jan Savage's handpainted ceramic ornaments. The glass ball with a HL on a clear print inside made by Susan Weaver as our 1995 ARBA Louisville conv. banquet favors when I was HLRSC President. It even has blackberries surrounding the Holland. I remember it was one of Roberta Berthold's fav tort herd bucks, though his name escapes me.
The blue satin ball ornament depicting the new HLRSC logo was our Ft. Worth Conv. banquet favor when I organized the banquet at the Cowboy Hall of Fame. A handmade felt angel made by Jane Varner our previous Hollander editor and great friend.
And I could go on and on. Many ornaments bought by myself whenever I could find one with a bunny on it. The fun is in the hunt, though I don't find as many as a few years back yielded. Even bunny themed Christmas cards are getting harder to find.
Hope your Christmas tree holds many warm wonderful memories for you after the presents underneath are long gone too!
