It's a scary thing when you think of all the data you can possibly lose when a harddrive fails. Inputting rabbits off your pedigrees is something easily done, though time consuming. But losing the massive data of litter records, show wins and more from over 15 years, jeez! (And yes, I did have a backup but it was on a floppy disk which had a hiccup transferring to another device.)
This post is a big kudos and thank you shout out to Dave Evans for his superior computer knowledge and his 100% software program support. He is THERE to help with great patience and Can Do attitude. Not only does he have a Top Rabbit Software program but he has the best customer service responsiveness of any business I have dealt with.
If you are considering a software for your rabbitry (or other animals), look no further. I love the features he has added over the years, always improving it. It has so many features that will keep your rabbit record keeping easy. There are a variety of records that can be kept on it, not just pedigrees. To name just a few... litter records, show wins, financials, color genetics, buyer lists and more.......
The Print feature - You can print out cage cards, show entry forms, breeding certificates, address labels, labels for show remark cards, lists of rabbits....
The Sort featuer - There are sort features that will identify and list unregistered animals so you can easily identify who needs to be registered next, a list of who is one leg short of a grand championship.....
You can view up to a 7 generation pedigree. You can put your rabbitry logo or photos onto the pedigrees.
There is a chore module that will track when to put in nestboxes or medicate.
It will create an exportable file to email someone a pedigree.
One feature I love is where you can highlight an animal and view its ancestors, descendants or half siblings. It is even color coded to tell you if they are related through the buck or doe side. This helps make decisions in breeding, keeping and selling.
When entering a show, it will sort the rabbits by class and variety, no more figuring out if an animal is junior or senior, it checks the show date against the birthdate and enters them accordingly. It sorts them into the correct color variety. I've heard show secretaries compliment it when receiving an emailed show entry that is properly sorted and easy to read. I'm sure it has helped save from entry changes from ear tattoo entry errors due to the readability on a handwritten entry or spoken over the phone.
Visit his website to take a Guided Tour or download a Free Demo. There is so much more to it than I can list here. It is: http://evans-software.com/ Dave has software for Cavies and other animals on his site too.
Oh, did I mention that all his software support is FREE?!!! He doesn't charge for it, it comes with his highly affordable software. It doesn't get any better than that.
Sincere thanks from a grateful customer! Tell Dave that Debbie Vigue sent you! Nope, no commission for me, just some free word-of-mouth adverising from a much relieved record keeping rabbit raiser.
